New LG Invision Mobile TV handset launched by AT&T

Today LG Electronics and AT&T Inc have announced the launch of LG Invision, this gives mobile users the best in video on their cell phones. LG Invision may be the 3rd phone to offer AT&T Mobile TV, but it is also the smallest Mobile TV phone in the United States.

The LG Invision features a size of less than one-half an inch thick, 2 inches wide and 4 inches tall. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, XM Radio Mobile, 3G, stereo audio support and lets users watch TV programming on a crystal-clear screen.

Programmes include NBC2GO, FOX Mobile, ESPN Mobile TV, CBS Mobile and users also get the ability of Video Share calling. The Invision lets users download music fast thanks to AT&T Mobile Music, which provides access to streaming digital radio, any unrestricted MP3 audio file and Napster To Go.

Tough Tetra T-Pad smartphone

Logic Instrument got FCC approval nearly two years ago for its "Tetra T-Pad" rugged smartphone, but not much has been heard about it since then. Perhaps the French manufacturer thought better of trying to sell a phone that costs about $2,600 on the American market.

That's the price tag Lussorian quotes for this steroidal handset, which it says has met U.S. military standards that require 25 tests involving the harshest conditions. Weighing just under 1.3 pounds, the T-Pad is dustproof, waterproof, and can withstand shock, vibration, and subzero temperatures. As for the phone specs, it has a 4-inch touch screen, a 400MHz Intel processor, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Features aside, it's difficult to see how the price can be justified--especially when there so many other tough phones being produced, some of them bearing the National Security Agency's seal of approval. Those handsets, by the way, are made in the U.S.A.

Upgraded mobile phones by Doro for “seniors”

Two new GSM mobile phones which are specifically designed for their simplicity and ease of use; the Doro HandleEasy 328gsm and 330gsm were just launched by Doro. The newly products are in response to the "burgeoning" seniors' technology market for mobile phones with clearer displays and large, well defined buttons to better accommodate the needs of the specific group.

The HandleEasy 330gsm is easy to use with large buttons and a high-contrast colour display. Features include a text messaging function, FM radio, torch, vibrating ringer and a speakerphone function.

The HandleEasy is an upgraded version of the Doro HandleEasy 326gsm model now with a directory with room for 100 names and numbers, a clear display and the ability to receive text messages. The 328gsm is available from £99.99, with white and black whlist the HandleEasy 330gsm is £129.99 in black lava and pearl white.

Mio unveils GPS phones with iPhone influence

Mio today chose Computex as the venue to launch three new GPS devices, two of which push the company further into the smartphone market. The pictured Leap G50 is Mio’s first Windows Mobile 6.1 device and uses an iPhone-like design with a chrome bezel focused around its touchscreen: only a scroll strip and call buttons interrupt the front face. The phone keeps to Mio’s emphasis on navigation with the company’s MioMap 2008 mapping software onboard. A 2-megapixel camera is onboard and can be used to geotag photos thanks to the GPS hardware.

The G50 is built for a worldwide release and supports quad-band GSM calling as well as EDGE data, making it useful with both AT&T and T-Mobile in the US. An Asian launch has been set for the summer, though other releases are likely to follow.
