Alltel added over 1 million new subscribers in Q1, 2008, making this the 3rd straight quarter of adding 1 million+ subscribers to their network. Alltel is currently the nations number 5 carrier, but with this type of growth it’ll be rivaling other carriers soon.
Also, Alltel announced today that it will use LTE as their 4G data solution. However, the new 4G service will not be available for another 3-5 years. A few other carriers, including Verizon, will also use LTE.
